I had this issue with my OSX and X11. I had to use the system recovery disk and load the version of X11 from there. The install worked okay after that.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem Geoff described.

I'm running osx 10.4.8 , PPC G4 1.5Ghz.

And spotlight points to nowhere except the dmg and pkg of the x11 that I've
downloaded but couldn't install.

It's like the computer thinks it's installed but it isn't.

Thanks.

I would really like to use OOo, let's see if I can make it thru this one...

:)

Thanks so much
X11 is not in my applications. There is no icon on
which to click. So my computer both has and doesn't
have X11 as far as I can tell... I know this can't
be... but this is how it appears...again thanks for
your patience...

Geoff

maybe we can try to locate your X11.app and see what
it tells us...

In the Finder, go to Applications (Programs) >
Utilities (Helper programs).
X11.app should be here. Open X11 with a double
click. The xterm window
opens. When you click on X11 next to the Apple icon
(top left of your
screen), then choose About X11, what does it say? It
should say X11 1.1.3 -
XFree86 4.4.0
(if you have version 1.1 instead of 1.1.3 it's OK,
but you could update with
the link Dan provided.)

If you have another result, you have to install the
right version of X11 or
come back to the list with your findings.

good luck

Doesn't spotlight give any clues ? (magnifying glass in top right corner of
your screen). Look for X11 (the logo is a black X in a white square)
