nick, I must disagree with you. OpenOffice is capable of replacing Office 97. There are differences between the two and they behave different, but once I got familiar with these I see no reason to switch back.
By telling Stéphane that it cannot you might put off potential users. It's better to point out that the two are different and guide users to the documentation pages to make them understand the differences.
