I should have really said, it's not possible to read/write the
filenames themselves in the "File name:" field in the Open/Save
dialog boxes. You can select a file whose filename is all boxes and
shapes (in reality it's greek text) and open it, and it will open
alright, except for the document name at the title bar which will
also show as boxes/shapes.
So, does this get fixed in 2.1? I've downloaded it, but not installed
it yet. Can it reside next to 2.0 by the way?

There is a fix related to the opening of certain files through the
Finder in OpenOffice.org 2.1.
What really happens is, all greek text in filenames shows in the
Open/Save dialogs as boxes. This, by the way, is not the case with
NeoOffice, but then again, it doesn't use X11.
Are the files able to be opened directly within OpenOffice.org?
Can you please give an example filename?
Could this issue be:

Please upgrade to OpenOffice.org 2.1 and try again.
