I have recently installed OpenOffice on one of my computers. I have used
OpenOffice approx. 2 years ago. My problem is that I tried to send an
article, I had typed in openOffice and saved in My Documents, to my
husband's computer (Microsoft Word). When he tried to open the file
it was
unreadable. I thought OpenOffice and Microsoft Word Documents were
interchangeable. Is there a solution to this problem.
Thanking you

You should advise Microsoft that this is a problem for you.
Tell them that Microsoft Word is unable to open OpenOffice.org documents.
Perhaps then they will no longer be able to say that their customers
haven't asked for it.
No, you should tell them that it doesn't open ISO standard ODF
documents. OpenOffice is just one app that supports ODF.
Or you could bypass the politics and just advise Margaret to "Save as"
MS Word format for interchange with her husband, until such time as
Microsoft supports international standards!
