What type of USB key drive are you using? My college son has a 1 Gig Sandisk U3 USB. He has had a lot of problems with the U3 portable version of OpenOffice. He had problems also with his U3 Thunderbird.
I have a Verbatim 512, non-U3 USB drive. I have the non U3 portable version of OpenOffice on it and haven't experienced any problems with it. The non U3 apps can be downloaded at portableapps.com. Right now, they have OpenOffice 2.0.4 for portable use. Greg "T.
