Hi Shaun,

A font pack is a set of files that are inside a .zip file.

OK, where do I get them? Or are they only on the web, in which case, how do I go about installing my .dfont or .ttf/.otf fonts?

I don't know, any more about the font packs.

Here is the solution for converting the fonts automatically on the next start of OpenOffice.org.
1. Quit OpenOffice.org
2.1 Navigate to the folder:
<user home directory>/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org 2.1/user/fonts/

Erm... there is no such dir here. Could it be because I have OOo 2.0?

Yes.
I wrote the instructions assuming 2.1, the latest release.
There were 5 versions of 2.0 made available. 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.0.3, 2.0.4. You are probably using one of the very early versions. The more recent versions now include fondu within ooo.

I also read on page 10/17 that "If fondu is found, a hidden file .fondudone is created and placed in /<install_dir>/ OpenOffice.org 2.app/Contents/openofficeorg2.0/share/fonts/ truetype". The file is not there in my install (I checked using Terminal).

This behaviour has changed as the file is no longer hidden. Also you are using an old version of ooo.

Tips? I am getting the 2.1 install file tomorrow from work (I haven't got dsl at the minute at home...) I guess that will solve things, but still I would like to understand what is going wrong with 2.0.

Good move. Try http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/download/
(I've either not been online at home, or had broadband, so I should probably think myself lucky.)

Shaun
