In that menu, you can indeed change both the font and the text size.
However, Windows also controls colors and menu appearance and I would
recommend using that course as much as possible. That way, all programs
that use Windows type menus will be equally accessible.
It isn't mentioned whether or not the child has learned to touch-type
yet. If not, I highly encourage it. Once done, the smart thing will be
to memorize the keyboard shortcuts and assign new ones to any favorite
commands. It's far easier to move one's fingers accurately than to go
through menus or try to position a blurry mouse! Among other things, I
recommend assigning shortcuts to the magnifying and scaling options. You
go to Tools -> Customize to move commands to the keys.
The ultimate shortcuts are macros. Open Office has some ability to
record a series of keystrokes, so that they can then all be combined
into kind of super shortcut. It can then be assigned to a key. However,
always do it slowly on a test document (perhaps a copy of the real one)
until it does what you want it to do.
