A .eps file typically contains a set of PostScript commands to generate an image, along with a (low-resolution) bitmap version of that image.
I think that when I imported a .eps file it displayed the preview image rather than the PostScript itself (fair enough). However when I exported as .pdf I think it exported the preview image bitmap, not the (higher resolution) PostScript commands. Am I right?
