A .eps file typically contains a set of PostScript commands
to generate an image, along with a (low-resolution) bitmap
version of that image.

I think that when I imported a .eps file it displayed the
preview image rather than the PostScript itself (fair enough).
However when I exported as .pdf I think it exported the preview
image bitmap, not the (higher resolution) PostScript commands.

Am I right? I see from the discussion mail list archives
that I probably am

He says that if I print to a PostScript printer then I will get the
PostScript.  Can I have it on export to pdf too, please?

I am (sort-of) happy because I was able to go back to my PostScript
application and tell it to generate the preview image at 300dpi
instead.  Other users might not find it so easy to regenerate their 
.eps files
