However, if I understood you correctly you lost your dictionary/spellchecker
after reformatting your hard disk. If this is correct, go to
File>Wizards>Install New Dictionaries and choose the one you need (French,
perhaps ;-) ). Then go to Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages and set
the "Default Language for Documents". Of course, the names of the menu items
will be different for you ...
In the French version, these names are the following:
Fichier > Assistants > Installer de nouveaux dictionnaires
and
Outils > Options > Paramètres linguistiques > Langues
