Looking more carefully at the download page I noticed that you will
need the X11 installation file from the MacOS X Install DVD/CDs and
_then_ update using the downloadable update from the link I provided.
If you read the system requirements for the update, they are:
"System Requirements
— Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later
— X11 1.1, 1.1.1, or 1.1.2"
Let me know if you don't have access to the MacOS X installation file
and maybe I can host one for you to download.
