I tried to install Open Office 2.1 on my Windows XP Home machine and
I had Open Office 2.0 installed on it. when it was doing the
Uninstall process I keep getting the error message "Error 1714. The

Thanks....................
First, is 2.0's Quickstarter running? If it is there will be an icon for
it in the System Tray. The icon is blue/grey and has a picture of flying
birds on it. Right click on this icon and choose Exit. Now go to Control
Panel > Add/Remove Software and try to remove OpenOffice 2.0. If that
still fails, then installing and running the program described at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/EN-US/ might help.
