Menu Tools>AutoCorrect, 'Options' tab, uncheck 'Apply numbering - symbol *'.

I hate automatic features. I just updated OOo 2.02 on my Ubuntu computer to 2.04. Now I can't type a number at the start of a paragraph without automatic numbering coming on. I have to turn it off for every paragraph. Then I hit enter to start a new paragraph and the damn automatic numbering comes back.
