Thanks for the response.  I have actually already tried using schematics
converted to JPEG format.  These will display, but not correctly, often
overlapping drawings from previous/following pages, even though I have
followed the recommendations regarding placement of graphics into
paragraphs.  I tried exporting that single (problem) file to PDF and it
translated perfectly.  It would seem the only time I have problems is when I
attempt to place it in a master file.  

Are there any file handling considerations I should modify?  The entire
document is 200 pages, with an average of two JPEG drawings per page, plus
callouts. Total aggregate file size is nearing 88 mb.

I do not think that native Visio foirmats are supported. Can Visio export in
a 
supported format ?
