If you are on Linux, I don't think there are much more options available for opening MS Office documents, but since it's free, just install it and try.
If you are on Windows, and you only need to view the files, not edit them, then you might want to try Excel Viewer, Word Viewer and Powerpoint Viewer... All of them can be downloaded for free at Microsoft's site. Less to download, but again, you can't edit the files, only view them. Free but not open source, of course... I almost never save anything in MS format. If my friends want to use my documents, they can download OpenOffice.org and there are also a few other free alternatives on the web I think. If they just refuse, just export to PDF so that they can see what they are missing... 2007/1/23, Nikos Mitropoulos <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Absolutely. OpenOffice supports MS Office Suite, while the opposite is not true. I currently do NOT have any Microsoft programs on my computer. The company I work for sends everything out in and needs to receive information in Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. Will this be compatible? If I receive an Excel spreadsheet, will I be able to open it? Will I be able to open Word documents? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
