Harold,
I'm not familiar with Mozilla and Thunderbird, and I'm a new user of
OOo. What do you see as the problems with Thunderbird?
<snip>
There's also a mail client named Thunderbird which is complemented by
something called Lightning for calendars etc. I tried Thunderbird.
Many people in this support group rave about it. I wouldn't touch it
again with a sterilised barge pole but, in the word of the prophet,
YMMV.

This is very off topic but ...
It lost my messages. None of the approximately 10-15 messages I sent to
this
group using Thunderbird ever arrived. As soon as I reverted to Outlook
Express they started arriving again. I don't know how long you have been
reading this list but you may remember I sent a series of "can you hear me,
mother?" messages a couple of weeks or so ago; that was to check that my
messages were starting to come through again after my experiment with
Thunderbird.
There are other more trivial things but losing messages is unacceptable.
Hum, in all the years of running Thunderbird, Mozilla or Netscape mail,
I cannot remember losing messages that I have posted. Since moving to
exchange server (another story), I have had nothing but problems.
I think you are having issues with the smtp (mail server) handler for
your Thunderbird or were you using imap?
If you want an Outlook like mail program, you can give Evolution a try.
