Man, does that ever work - thank you very much. I never knew
REs were available in spreadsheets - and I sure didn't find any mention
of them in the help screens.Probably should have looked
in the online version.

I always write out a "temp work copy" - same effect. I usually
manage to avoid experimenting on original files :-)

I'll do that - there's some real power there to be had.
I'll bet that if I can learn enough about how to use them, I
can solve some other "global update" issues I have dangling around.
