You know the time that it took to write the email and wait for an
answer is much longer than it would have been to use the
www.openoffice.org website to get the previous version.

This list however can assist with your current issue if you want. If
you can explain the OS your on, the type of document you create each
time it crashes and any applicable error messages, identification of
the problem will be easier? Does document recovery work at all when
you restart OOo?
