I have used OOo since about version 1.0 and never had a problem with drag and drop. This problem started after ugrading my Ubuntu Dapper amd64 to Edgy amd64. The latest version you could install on Dapper was 2.02, which is what I used then. Drag and drop was fine. The upgrade to Edgy automatically upgraded OOo to 2.04. That is where the problem first surfaced. I can drag and drop just fine in other applications (e.g., AbiWord). NoOp told me that there were some reports and gave me the following like to an Ubuntu forum: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=296702 I posted another query there and no one has responded. Just a bit ago I sent each of the participants in that thread a private e-mail asking if they ever found a solution. Re your question: The version of 2.04 that I have is what the upgrade to Ubuntu Edgy installed. When I open Synaptic that is the only version available for Ubuntu Edgy amd64. I cannot install the file from OOo because OOo has not made available a debian amd64 installation file. I am hoping that it is just a missing library or module or something. After upgrading from 2.02 to 2.04 it took me the better part of a day to reconfigure all my personal settings in OOo that the upgrade broke. I'm not eager to reinstall. And I defnitely don't want to reinstall on the vague suggestion that it might help. I will do so, but only if someone knows for a fact that a reinstall is the only way to fix the problem. At this time I have not heard from anyone who has experienced the problem and found a solution. For all I know right now there is no solution. In a couple of days I intent to file a bug report.
