Hi Lauren
Hello! We downloaded Open Office this month (so I assume it's your
latest version) to create a PowerPoint-type presentation using Open
Office Impress. I took an existing Power Point presentation, adapted
it using Open Office Impress, but now need to present it on a system
that only has Power Point.
Question: will Power Point read Open Office Impress?
Quick Answer: no it won't.
Longer answer: Since you initially opened a Powerpoint presentation,
then OpenOffice would have saved it in the Microsoft Powerpoint
format (unless you explicitly asked it to save in the OpenDocument
format). So I imagine Microsoft Powerpoint should be able to open the
presentation.
If you were to create a presentation from scratch using Impress, then
you will have to save the file in the Powerpoint XP format if you
want it to be readable by Powerpoint. To do this, use File / Save As,
and select Microsoft Powerpoint XP as the file type. Or if you are
emailing the presentation, select File / Send / Email as Microsoft
Powerpoint.
If you would like the presentation to be usable on any computer (even
computers without Microsoft Office or OpenOffice), export the
presentation as an Adobe Acrobat file, or as Macromedia Flash file.
You will lose your transition effects if you choose this option.
Hope this helps.

Our solution is to download openoffice portable and use the usb stick to
run both the application and the presentation. with the cost of usb
sticks now you can send it complete.
