Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages and then choose your language under "Default Languages for Documents" and, if you like, select "For the current document only". If the language you choose has a tick and "abc" next to it then OpenOffice can spell check in that language. If not you need to install the appropriate dictionary first. Go to File>Wizards>Install New Dictionaries and follow the instructions. If you only want spell checking in one language, go to Tools>Options>Language Settings>Writing Aids and make sure "Check in all languages" is *not* selected. If you want to spell check multi-lingual documents you will need to set a Style for each language. Read about Styles in the Help and in the online documentation. -- Harold Fuchs London, England
