I doubt that this is entirely true. I have OOo 2.1 on Mandriv
Linux (OOo was downloaded from OOo web site). I opened AutoText in
the Edit menu. The first thing I did was to click the AutoText
button. Sure enough, only MS Word sources were possible.
Once in a while I am able to create an New AutoText, but it has
not been consistent within AutoText itself. (Open AutoText. Enter a
Name and Shortcut. Click AutoText button and then New.)
However, I have been able to create what I want in the AutoText in
a text document and in place it within AutoText consistently.

1) Create what is desired in a text document.
2) Highlight everything that has been created.
3) Edit > AutoText.
4) Click the category you want to put the new AutoText in.
5) Enter the Name and Shortcut.
6) Click the AutoText button and select New from the menu.
7) Click closed.
