     Do this for each type of file MS Office has change file 
associations for (.doc, .xls, .pps for example). Right one of the 
files whose association you want to change. Click Open With from the 
context menu. Find OpenOffice.org in the list of programs. Check the 
box at the bottom that states "Always use this program to open this 
type of file." Click OK.
