I tried this in OpenOffice.org Writer 2.1. "The patient will rtr. rtr for further assessment" converts to "The patient will return. Return for further assessment.", just like it should, after I added rtr -> return in the Autocorrection list.
So if the problem existed in OpenOffice.org 2.0.4, it's gone now. After the punktuation mark you need to enter a space, but as far as I know you always should do that anyway. It's kind of a rule in most of the languages in the world (if not all of them). Maybe we could ask for a feature which automatically insert a space after ".,:;?!" unless \n or \0 follows, or something like that. Selectable of course, via a checkbox somewhere. One thing that would be nice were if I could have different Autocorrection lists for different languages. Right now I have the Swedish list only. Even if I highlight text and select, for example English (GBR)) as language, the Autocorrection list is still Swedish AND it seems to be deactivated... I can edit it but it doesn't work (which indeed would feel like a good thing if there an English list got activated instead). Sandee, I am sorry you feel like OpenOffice.org is "too much of a hassle". OpenOffice.org is not MS Office and probably doesn't even want to be (fortunately for me since many of the strange behaviours of Excel, for example, is "replaced" by really nice behaviour in OpenOffice.org Calc, but that's maybe too much out of topic). Experienced MS Office users might need some time to get used to OpenOffice.org, but some of them (me included) never look back when that happened. A new user just have to be prepared that things are no longer exactly what they used to be. A few days ago, at work, I tried to create som things in Excel (2003 I think), like a dialog with a few buttons, date field, time field and some other fields. After a while I just gave up (I have actually created dialogs in Excel before in my life, a few years ago), downloaded and installed OpenOffice.org 2.1 and then I started the project all over again. So it's all a matter what you are used to. Going from brand 1 to brand 2 always has a learning curve, unless brand 2 is a plagiarism of brand 1. OpenOffice.org has its issues, no need to lie about that, but it also has its advantages. Sure there are bugs, but when I find them I can write here about them to find out if I am doing something wrong or if it really is a bug. If it is, I can report it, and the most important thing, it might just be fixed! It happened to me several times! If I find that the bug already was reported, I can vote for it, which might cause the problem to be solved somewhat quicker.
