Dear Sirs,
When trying to open the downloaded file I get the following comment
NSIS error
The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.
This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a
virus. You may want to contact the Author of this installer to
obtain a new copy. Can you make any suggestions as to what I can do.
Only suggestion is to check the MD5
(http://download.openoffice.org/2.1.0/md5sums.html) of the downloaded
file to make sure that the one downloaded completed successfully.
I think the download corrupted the installation file a little...

I think it's more likely that your Anti Virus (AV) software thinks the file
you downloaded is a virus. This happens quite often, not just with
OpenOffice. Please first check the MD5 as Paul suggests. If you find it's OK
then:
1. Disconnect your computer from the internet
2. Disable your AV software and your firewall
3. Install OpenOffice
4. Re-enable your AV and firewall
5. Re-connect to the internet
Never leave your computer connected to the internet if your AV and firewall
are not both running properly.
