Right now someone from a local Linux group told me: ldd `which <binary>` will give you a list of all shared modules that any given binary depends on So now I want to find out what are the binaries in OOo. I did a search on "openoffice" and found hundreds and hundreds of files and folders. My current theory is that drag and drop is not working for me because I have a missing, messed up, or incorrect library or module. If I can get a list of all the binaries that OOo uses I can test them one at a time with the command line. Then I can reinstall everything that each binary needs. I'll bet that the upgrade from Dapper amd64 to Edgy amd64 failed to update some library or module that only OOo needs.
