Dear OO: I am a person using v. 2.1 of OpenOffice, and my problem is; in Writer, after saving documents, a blank band of screen appears in the status bar's position.

i set the default format for all documents i create to .doc (i'm sorry). I much prefer to type documents without the status bar displayed, and when my customized template opens, it opens perfectly to a blank page without the status bar. Also, when the system autosaves, it does so perfectly, and the status bar remains properly hidden. My problem occurs when i manually save a copy of a document i'm typing, which i try to do regularly; after clicking the save icon in the toolbar, a blank strip of dead screen appears in the status bar's location. I then have to click the status bar icon twice, once to display the status bar on top of this blank strip that appears, and then again to (properly) hide the status bar and thereby remove the offending strip of dead screen. I have to deal with this glitch constantly as i type (and save) documents. over all, I am an extremely happy and grateful user of Open Office and will continue to use your program in the future. But is there something I can do, or failing that, that might be done to eliminate what seems to be an annoying glitch in OO Writer?
