Why don't you install Ubuntu on the lappy and really enjoy it? I just
installed Fedora Core 6 on my Dell E1505 laptop, works perfectly.
Including Open Office.
If OOo doesn't work on Vista, then write to Microsoft and ask why
Vista is not backwards-compatable with XP.
