OOo doesn't put an icon on your screen during install. There should be
a "Start" button at the bottom left of your screen, an the leftmost end
of the task bar. If your task bar isn't visible, you should be able to
get it to show either by 'bumping' the bottom of the screen with your
mouse cursor, or by grabbing the bottom of the screen with your mouse
and dragging it up a bit.
Push the "Start" button, then hold your cursor over the phrase "All
Programs". A list of possibilities should open up. Find
"OpenOffice.org" in the list and hold your mouse over it -- you'll get a
little pop-up menu with all the OpenOffice pieces that you can run.
Click on your desired one (I assume you'd want "OpenOffice Document" or
"Writer") and go.
