You may be referring to those infernal context-sensitive toolbars. You can
make them go away with View >Toolbars >[de-select the toolbar] but will they
stay away? One suggestion is to dock the @#!¿ things before making them
disappear in the hope that, when they return, they will at least be
somewhere inconspicuous. One of the many annoyances that make you wonder
why the developers are so smug.
