That is tough, especially getting a bad CD.
Do you use a download manager? There are several shown on the Download
page of OOo http://download.openoffice.org/index.html
Another alternative is peer-to-peer, as this checks each "chunk" as it
downloads and will reload anything missing.
Thankfully the problem has been resolved. I mentioned my woes
to some chums and they almosy -fought- for the chance to get me a copy.
The one who had her laptop with her and a wifi connection did it right then.
Open Office has installed just fine and I am VERY happy.
It's been 3 days and MS word has not crashed my laptop once ^_^
