In my experience, apart from load/save times, I've not found a _large_ difference between calc and Excel (I've not used gnumeric).
I've just tried a 39000R x 40C spreadsheet and time differences between sorting and calculations (on all rows) wasn't that great. I must say however that the PC used had more than 256M RAM. I would say however that the original question was around 1 Million rows... I believe that doing anything of this magnitde in a spreadsheet is asking for trouble. DB would definitely be the way to go for something of that size. /paul -- Don't bother trying to view high definition media using Vista : http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html ----- Try Torpark; a small portable, open-source, built on Firefox browser that enables anonymous browsing.
