What happens depends upon many factors. Would you be using Linux
instead of Windows? Would you be using a dual boot system with
Windows and Linux on different partitions of your hard drive? How are
you connected to the Internet? (If you are on dial-up, does Linux
support the modem in your computer?) What programs do you use? What
formats are your files in? (And these are just some of the factors.)
Can you switch from Windows to Linux? Many people have done it.
This email is being written on a computer running Linux exclusively.
I have a laptop with a Windows 98 SE partition. The only reason
why I ever use the Win 98 SE is that I have two programs that require
it. I have a digital voice recorder from Sony with a proprietary file
format that requires a MS Media program to play it. I also have a
three CD set of dietary programs which do not have a Linux version.
