        Idon't mean to steal this thread but  I've had similar problems
        with replacing tabs ('\t') with spaces (' ') or ('\040').  I rough-
        draft everything in vi because my fingers know it; but it takes 
        some prep'n to translate a vi file for OO.   

        It would really help to be able to replace a tab-indented 
        paragraph with a standard 5-space-indent paragraph.  Or tabs
        with spaces.
