The last email in this chain was a little garbled but I think it was advocating downloading normal OOo (from www.openoffice.org), copying to flashdrive, then installing on the flashdrive.
I believe that doing this will still create entries in the "C" drive registry, "C" drive "documents and settings" and other places.
