This sounds like the document receivers are trying to open your
openoffice document with another program such as Micro$oft Word.
If they are, you can FILE -> SAVE AS and save the file as a Word
document which you can send to them. If this is what is happening, the
fault lies with Micro$oft for not opening ISO standard files.
