Did you tried 'Files | recent documents' ?
Maybe you deleted the folder accidentally.
So weird behaviour... i had unexpected restarts using base, but
always had there the life-saver restore option to help me.

I was wondering if his harddrive is going bad and his databases
were located in a spot that has gone bad. But if they are not listed
as registered databases, it appears as if they never existed as far
as OOo is concerned. I wonder if they were created correctly. After
all, once a database is created, it is also registered and placed in
this list. The only way to get them off that list afterwards is to
use the Delete button below the list of databases.
The only way I can see that the databases and their names on this
list could both disappear at the same time would be for someone to
delete the databases and their listings.

I recently had 3 database files completely disappear that I
created with OO Base. I searched my computer under the file
name, file type, and date created with no luck. I also searched
my trash folder. Does anyone have ideas on what could have
happened? It would be nice to keep this from happening again.

Look at Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org Base > Databases.
Are the three database files listed there? If they are listed
there, their locations are also listed. (That is, the address
there is where these databases are suppose to be.)
Just a stab in the dark, so to speak. Did you create a
Primary key for each table you created? If not, you could not do
anything with the databases without the Primary key being
present.
Dan
Thank you. I tried what you suggested but didn't see my files. I
ended up uninstalling and reinstalling OO and will back-up my
files more frequently. I'm puzzled as to what you happened
though. I have never had anything like this happen before.

I'm wondering about 5 possible causes:
1. I checked my hard drive and it was badly fragmented;
2. My trial period for Wordperfect suite just ended;
3. Maybe I never registered the database files. I created the files
after I had already opend other files. Whenever I went to open my new
files after that, I never found them. So, I opened old files I used to
play around with. Then, after Base was opened, I could find the files I
was interested in and work with them;
4. At the time this happened Base was behaving funny. When I opened it
and selected a file, it would not open. I would have to open base again
and it would tell me the file I had selected was ready to recover. I
would click ok to recover and it would open. It didn't always do this
but when it did it the first time, it continued doing it without fail.
5. I was playing around with MySQL at the time without knowing what I
was doing and maybe something I did interferred with Base.
