Hi all!

Introduction:
In our company we have a very heterogeneous infrastructure with computers/laptops running OS X, Ubuntu and one computer running Windows. We decided to use OpenOffice to work on our administrative documents.

Our administration is using a font called Frutiger LT (Type1) and one called OCRB (TTF) to write and print our documents/credit slips. The goal is to exchange the documents across all workstations without changing styles.

The problem:
We use Frutiger LT with 6 typefaces. As Windows does not support more than 4 typefaces we decided to install them as single fonts. On Windows and OS X this task was pretty easy as Linotype (where we bought the font) delivered the right installation files.

Nevertheless I never suceeded to install the fonts on all operating system in a way that the document exchange is straightforward. Especially on Linux (using spadmin) I was never able to get the same font menu as I did on windows with every font typeface as single entry in the font menu. Hacking the afm and pfb files (font family name) I was able to get the fonts as seperated entries in the font menu but the typefaces (light, italic) are not preserved (e.g. Font Family "Frutiger Italic", typeface "Regular", should be italic but isn't).

Searching the newsgroups, mailing lists, etc. did not help. I could not find any solution after working on this topic for one day now. I am desperate...

Does anybody has a good idea or much better, a solution for this kind of problem?

Thx in advance!

Cheers, Chris
