Get a 6x4 :-) That's why I stuck with Dapper. I don't know what else to suggest. Did you remove ubuntu-desktop (sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop)? It really won't hurt to do so as long as you've backed up your home directory & you can always reinstall (sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop) if need be. Ah, one other suggestion: I have copied all of my fonts to a .fonts directory in my home folder. Don't know if that would make a difference, but you might want to give it a try.
