A more important question should be, when will Microsoft Office 2007 be
compatible with the Open Document Format for Office Applications ISO/IEC

This plugin (sponsored by Microsoft) is available for MS Word XP, 2003 and 2007: http://sourceforge.net/projects/odf-converter/ .
It allows you to save your documents as ODT file format.
This is currently the best method to get a standard file format in MS Office. For now, it does only apply to text documents but should evolve soon.

Good luck Fred.

Well Microsoft did a good job on this converter as expected.
