[EMAIL PROTECTED] typed up the following:
OOo 2.0.4 on Ubuntu Edgy amd64
I have almost fixed everything in my borked installation of OOo, but
during the last uninstall/reinstall somehow OOo has decided to use a
symbol font for its menus. None of my other applications have changed,
so I know it's a setting in OOo.
I think it is set in Tools > Options > ??? but I can't remember exactly
which setting it is. And I can't read the menus, so I can't figure out
where the setting is. I have been using OOo for years, so I know
approximately where Tools is on the menu, and I know that Options is
the bottom item, and I recognize the shape of the window that pops up,
but I can't read any of the items in it. I think the option I am
looking for says "Use system font for menus" or something like that.
Could someone please tell me, when I get into Tools > Options, which
item it is, and bear in mind that I have to count this way and that to
tell which item I am checking. The check boxes work, at least. But the
buttons on the bottom are also unreadable. One of them is Help, but I
can't remember which one is the "OK" button.
I bet this list has never seen a request as dumb as this. :)

Okay, looking at the Options dialog box - specifically the list on the left.
Expand the very first item (OpenOffice.org)
Fourth item down is View - select this one
Top left hand corner of the right hand pane should show you Scaling with
a percent dropdown box, and underneath that two dropdown boxes for icon
sizes, and these may be displaying "Automatic".
Directly under that is the checkbox for using system fonts.
The OK button is the one on the very left of the four buttons along the
bottom right hand side.
If this doesn't make sense, I'll email you a screenshot (I thought I'd
posted one here, but it looks like the list didn't like it).
