You need to set windows mail as your default mail application. Go to
Internet Options in control panel (or by clicking tools -> internet
options in Internet Explorer) and go to the programs section and set
it there.
Hope this helps

Dan,
Another problem:
Within Writer we went to FILE/Send Email
A MS Office Outlook dialogue pops up: No Profiles have been
created. To create a new profile, use the Mail icon in the control
panel [sic]
However, we had setup email on the laptop using Windows Mail. And
had successfully sent and received email on the laptop!
I double clicked the Control Panel but could not find any Windows
Mail icon in the categories presented there. So now I don't know
why the Outlook box popped up, or how to associate the Writer looking
for Windows Mail.
Thank you (very much).
