If you use Linux - you could use WINE
to run a large number of Windows apps
on Linux - so there is another reason to
dump Windows or not getting Vista

Linux has come far on desktop in the last few years. I run Fedora Core
and am impressed with it. Others have their favorite distros. You
don't need Microsoft, unless you are using Autocad, Solidworks, or are
gaming.
These days I'm telling people to avoid Vista, because of all the
problems it brings. I recommend Linux or Mac.
