We're serious. Given the problems with Windows and particularly Vista, many are recommending people move to Linux or Mac. Windows is rapidly becoming a very unsuitable platform for computer users. Do some research on the DRM issues with Vista and then some more on the illegal Microsoft behaviour. Then add in the vulnerability to viruses, worms etc., that regularly infect Windows and then consider there's never been a viable virus for Linux. When we recommend Linux or Mac, it's because we're all too aware of the all too common problems with MS products. Then, we get to price...
Using Window has been a bad move for many years. Vista makes it much worse. For your own good, just don't go there. A bit of info on my background. I have been in computer support for a significant portion of my career. I have worked at IBM Canada, providing 3rd level support on OS/2, various applications and even on Windows. I have worked with several versions of Windows and have been using Linux on my personal computer for over 5 years. In addition I have used OS/2 on my home computers for many years. Therefore, based on all that experience, I speak with absolute confidence, when I say avoid using Windows. Compared to Linux or OS/2, it is an extremely poor and buggy operating system. Further, it is MS's policy to enforce "lock in", even employing illegal methods to do so. There is much accumulated evidence of this.
