Did the file name change as well as the extension? I ask because M$oft
now generates "winmail.dat" which requires a separate decoder such as
FETUN.EXE (downloadable, about 224KB).

Hello,
Would you be so kind as helping me to solve that problem :
I am currently using Open Office 1.9.122.
I made a .xls file with Open office calc and I sent it attached to
a mail message (with Thunderbird 1.5) thru the web to several
recipients.
Sometimes, it is changed to a .dat file reaching some recipients -
how is it ?! When these recipients then changed back the extension
to .xls they could normally open this calc file.
Thanks,
Kind regards,

Their email client changed the .xls to .dat when they received
it. It has nothing to do with OpenOffice.org nor Thunderbird.
As a side note, I would suggest you upgrade your OOo version.
1.9.122 was designed to be use for testing purpose only. It has some
bugs in it that have been removed since then. And if you are using
Windows, you will need to remove 1.9.122 before installing a later
version. Presently, 2.1.0 is the production version, and 2.2.0 is due
soon.
