I have used them in versions of MS Word going back many years. They would be a nice addition to OOo Writer -- and I have made that suggestion as a comment to ISSUE 4579 which deals with this topic. http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=4579 You wrote: "many of the same results can be obtained, as I have posted previously, through the use of «Alt Gr +» or «Alt Gr + Shift +»... " Where can I find the information that you have "posted previously"? Ben
Ben, writing as you are from Canada, I presume you use either English or French keyboard settings ; the former, at least, are rather diacritically impoverished when compared to the Scandinavian settings that I use. Obviously, I can't guarantee that you will get the same results as I when performing operations of the type Alt Gr + ... or Alt Gr + Shift + ... ;the best thing to do would be to play around with all the possible combinations on your computer and see what happens. But for your reference, I reproduce here below a letter I posted to a previous thread on this subject - I hope you find it of some use !... Henri Dear John, The Windows app isn't necessary - inspired by our correspondence, I decided to do some further exploration and found, to my great joy that on my keyboard, the process «Alt Gr + Shift + the diaresis key» × 2 gives «ˇ», and «Alt Gr + Shift + the diaresis key» and then «c», «s», «z», or «ř» gives «č», «š», «ž», and «ř» respectively. Hallelujah !... Thanks a lot ! Henri
