[users] format for the DATE filed

Using Writer in OOo 2.1 under Windows XP, I insert the field DATE in my 
document. How can I control the FORMAT in which the date will be displayed? 
E.g., I might want it to show as "25 February 2007" or as "02/25/07" or ...
