James, not a pretty answer, but this should work.
From the open dialogue, click on the 'up one level' icon until you
can't go up
anymore. Now find the 'Volumes' folder and click on that. You should
see your
hard disk listed along with any flash drives. Click on the flash
drive folder to
access files there.

Also, printing is really s-l-o-w. It seems as if my printer always
prints in it's absolute best print mode from Open Office, but that
is usually unnecessary. Can I switch the print quality back to
normal so it prints at a normal speed?
