Good Morning:
I just signed up for openoffice today and have XP,
on a HP computer with an EXECL reader but no EXCEL program. How do I
download just EXCEL.

Some loaned me their WORD program so I have that.

If that someone didn't remove Word on his/her own computer, I would
guess that is illegal. Word
is not freeware and using it without paying for it is, as far as I know,
against the law. If someone gives it to you, that someone have to uninstall
his/her version before you are allowed to install it on your computer.

OpenOffice.org however, can be installed on any computer without breaking
any laws and it replaces Word, Excel, Powerpoint and there are also features
you won't find in any MS Office suite (I think).

If you don't care about the law, I know it's not my business. I just thought
I could tell you this, in case you WANT to "do the right thing" (not
breaking any laws) and you perharps didn't know what's right and wrong in
this matter. "Someone loaned me their Word program" does indeed sound like
someone breaks at least one law.

Again, I don't know anything about the circumstances in this case, so maybe
you are not breaking any laws after all, I can't possibly know that for
sure. Most people don't seem to care about that anyway, I guess it's only me
and a few others in the world who do…
