Apologies.
I am using OpenOfficeOrg 2.1
Th Impress file is 20M+ in size, and has many graphics, animation and
hyperlinks within the same presentation (not sure if this info will
prove helpful in assessing the issue).
I thought a corruption may have occurred on the initial download of 2.1,
so I deleted the initial download and re-installed 2.1, yet the problem
still occurred. The problem only occurs intermittently and there is no
regular pattern as to when the error (the ability to "not" save the
edits) will take place.
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

All:
I am new to Open Source and have been very impressed with Open Office.
In fact, I was using the Office Suite exclusively until I ran into
problems with Impress.
When attempting to save edits I had done on a presentation, I would get
an error message stating "an error occurred" and my options would be
to <Save>, <Discard> or <Cancel> - if I chose the <Save> option, the
error message would repeat itself. My only viable option when I reached
this point was to <Discard> but this would result in a loss of all my
edits.
Thinking the problem could be due to a corrupt download, I did download
and install OpenOffice again - but it never cleared up the file.
Currently I am creating my presentations in MS PowerPoint and then
opening the finished presentation in Impress and saving the file in a
.odp format. - this seems to work.
I do not have any other problems with the other Office Apps in
OpenOffice (i.e. Writer, Calc, etc.)
Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using ?
If it is not 2.1 then please download that and test again.
