So, your answer is: Yes, OpenOffice.org will work with Windows Vista. It is not compatible with Office 2007 or the OOXML file format, but this is definitely being worked on. I have taken liberty to move this question into the User Questions and Assistance mailing list where you may receive more answers than mine. As to the conflicting information, the developers do not maintain the web site.
